List of what over spot you pay for different rounds?
So does anyone have a condensed list of what is a good deal on all different silver rounds ( spot+?). It would be nice to bring it in the coin shop and get the best deal. Fell free to include pre-65 change and war nickels. Include Monarks, SAE's, prospectors, libertades, bars, anything else you think could be useful.

Re: List of what over spot you pay for different rounds?
Here's my crack at it:
90% Silver Coin: a little under spot 35% Nickels: half of spot (yes, half, you'll be lucky to even get that back out of them) Generic rounds: 10-40 cents over, closer to 40 for Prospectors or if I like the round SAE: $1 over Maples: 50-75 cents over Onzas (pre-1996): 25-50 cents over Libertads (1996-2007): $1.50 to $2 over (I have a soft spot for them) Those are what I consider "good," fair prices, and what I'll pay if I'm looking to buy more silver. Keep in mind that I like to bargain-hunt (especially at coin shows), so it may not be easy to get these prices - certainly not from a single vendor. :bear_tongue: When I find deals less than those prices, I usually snap them up whether I'm really looking to buy silver or not. Hope that helps... |

:rolleyes_m: As a general rule any silver .50 cents over spot is a bargain.
The premiums on SAEs and Prospectors are so high at coin shows I can find them cheaper on the Internet. Unless a pawn shop or a high volume coin dealer turns serious PM inventory they usually charge $2.00 over spot around my area. Flea market coin shysters can sell Prospectors and Onzas by the pound for $5.00 over current spot all day long around here. Price negotiation is a freaking joke...the standard answer is take it or leave it. I haven't bought a single ounce of any PM locally in 20 years...do you wonder why ? I don't buy gold...can't help you there. :D:D:D |
Re: List of what over spot you pay for different rounds?
Buy 2-3% over spot and sell back around 5% under spot. When you sell in quantity you get a check not cash. Might as well sell to an entity like CNI who pays spot for 10's and 10 cents under for 100's. Shipping in USPS priority packaging is around 5 cents or so. Might vary dealer to dealer but even the best around here don't pay enough. I wonder how much the smelter pays on his buys.
